JD/PR Wins PR Award for Social Media Command Center

J. Davis Public Relations was among the award winners at the Public Relations Society of America, Maryland Chapter’s annual “Best in Maryland” awards event held Dec. 1 in Baltimore.

I was honored to win in the Social Media/Viral Marketing category for the social media strategy I developed and carried out in 2014 for Star-Spangled Spectacular, the largest tourism event ever held in Baltimore. Standing next to me in the photo is one of my mentors, Sandy Hillman, and members of the Hillman PR team, winner of a Best in Maryland award for their media relations work for the Star-Spangled event.

Another highlight was the opportunity, as 2015 president of the PRSA Maryland Chapter, to introduce another mentor – Ralph Crosby, founder of Crosby Marketing Communications (two mentors in the same room!) as the chapter’s Lifetime Achievement award winner. Four organizations won three PRSA Best in Maryland awards each: A. Bright Idea; Crosby Marketing Communications; Johns Hopkins Medicine and Vitamin. Johns Hopkins University Press and ABET (Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology) each won two Best in Maryland awards. Best in Show went to The YuCrew for their work to promote World Thrombosis Day.
